While there is an abundance of things to see and do in Carroll County, our neighbors offer outstanding attractions as well.  We encourage you to step out of our backyard during the day and experience the interesting attractions around us.  When you are done, come back to Carroll County for a delightful meal and a good night’s rest.

Galena – less than 30 miles from any of our communities, offers an assortment of unique shopping experiences, historic attractions and downhill skiing.  Part of Northern Illinois Wine Trail

Dubuque, Iowa – approximately one hour from Carroll County, provides a wide variety of recreational activities on the Mississippi River.

Freeport Area – 30 minutes from Carroll County, features many state and local parks for outdoor activities.  Part of Northern Illinois Wine Trail.

Rockford – approximately one hour from Carroll County, Rockford is full of cultural experiences for young and old alike.  Home to “Jane” the teenaged Triceratops and the hockey team, the Rockford Ice Hogs.

Oregon – 45 minutes east of Carroll County, Oregon is home of Chief Black Hawk, the 48 foot monolith statue which overlooks the Rock River.  Oregon has antique stores and great gift shops.
